Big Sunday KFP Workshops

Los Angeles, CA

May, 2005, 2006, 2007

Big Sunday is a citywide philanthropic day for Los Angeles.

KFP held workshops at Magnolia School in 2005 and 2006. Kids For Peace held a postcard workshop for Big Sunday and the Diversity of Religions conference at the Mosque in South Central Los Angeles in 2007. The postcard workshop was going on simutaneously during the conference in the Mosque. No photo's were allowed.

Shakers and Masks were made. A book was also made by participants of this workshop for Lusher Elementary School in New Orleans. This was done so people in Los Angeles could reach out and honor those in New Orleans still dealing with a city that has not been completely restored since Katrina hit in 2005. Families and staff of Lusher Charter School  have been living in temporary housing and suffering Hardship on a already tragic situation. This Book  was sent to Lusher Charter School as a symbol of love and hope from all of us in Los Angeles at the Farmers Market Mardi Gras.

Lawndale, CA

Summer-Fall 2007

This "Portraits of Lawndale mural" brought the families and youth of Lawndale together to create public art that beautified the construction fence of the new Lawndale Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library. Participants drew their portraits in the grids of large books.

Gale was assisted by Franco Cristofani, Deedee Kirkwood, Patia Lau and the local community to create this mural in ten community art workshops.
